DESCRIPTION OF THE BOOK

My book is designed to be an accessible, "user-friendly" introduction to the main ideas, techniques and applications of first year calculus. It contains explanations, in straightforward and simple language, of the essential concepts of beginning calculus.

The book features background material, as needed, on algebra, geometry and reading comprehension. There are numerous worked examples, with most of the algebraic detail included, as well as numerous illustrations. Each chapter contains a concise "Summary of Main Points", as well as exercises. These features make the book especially useful to students working on their own, or to students using the book as a supplement to a more traditional calculus text.
