Tutoring:

Objectives: This is a fast paced course meant to prepare
students
for Calculus class. Although 90%
of the course grade is determined by the JExam(Testing software), tackling
JExam problems is
NOT the main purpose of this course. Instead,
understanding the concept and idea from the
material will be our focus. Therefore, the methodology used in this
course may not be the fastest
way to solve the problems but it helps students to understand the
material.
Suggestions:
(1) Practice test is the key to success in this
course
because most of the questions in tests and
homeworks are similar to
those in Practice tests.
(2) Try to get use to JExam ASAP to avoid your Test
1 being screwed.
(3) Absolutely No Partial Credits
in tests, homeworks and final exam though each question has
two trials. In JExam, it
makes no difference between carelessness and ignorance! As a result,
carefulness is crucial in
answering questions.
(4) Come to every class and do the suggested problems
after every class. Stop the instructor
whenever you feel confusing.
(5) Do not memorize the solutions of problems, try
to understand them. However, memorization
of a decent amount of
formulas
is needed for tests.

The lowest test score will be replaced by the final exam score provided
the final exam score is higher
than the lowest test score. Adjustment of test or homework scores is
possible only in the case that
the student entered the correct answer and the computer did not grade
it correctly.

Attendance Policy: Students are allowed for no more
than
FIVE absences including both excused
and unexcused absences. On the Sixth absence, a student may be
withdrawn
from the class with a
grade W or WF (definitely WF after midpoint).Do not regard these FIVE
absences as personal
free days. These are only to be used in cases of illnesses or family
emergencies. In some cases,
verification may be required.
Academic Honesty: All students are responsible for
maintaining
the highest standards of honesty
and integrity in every phase of their academic careers. The penalties
for academic dishonesty are
severe and ignorance is not an acceptance reason. Students should pay
particular attention to
sections 5 and 7 of the academic honesty statement at
