Course Objective

To learn derivatives and how to apply them to solving problems and sketching graphs.

Class Policies

The UGA Academic Honesty Policy will be followed closely. Four missed classes may result in a withdrawal with a WF. There will be no make-ups for missed quizzes and exams.

Homework and Quizzes

HW will be assigned almost every day. We will discuss some of the problems on the days prior to the quiz days (the last 20-25 minutes of class) and one-three problems from current HW will be on the quiz. One lowest quiz score will be dropped, to provide a cushion for sick days, broken car days, family emergencies etc.

Make-up Policy

No make-up for quizzes. No make up for tests, but, in case of an excused and officially verified absence, the average of the other two tests will be counted instead of the missed test.

Web Page

A lot of communication concerning this course will be done through the official web page, which you should see when you log in to myWebCT at http://webct.uga.edu. Some of the goodies you will find there are: your grades, grade calculator, homeworks, calendar with dates of exams, mail, discussion group and syllabus.

Calculators

All non-symbolic calculators are allowed (up to TI-86).

Evaluations

All student evaluations will be done on-line this spring during the last two weeks of the semester. One (1) point will be added to the average in the course for a successful completion.
