Week 5:

Tuesday, Sept 14: Read section 4.3 (we are skipping 4.1 and 4.2) and do the practice problems. Do (to be handed in on Thursday): problems 3, 5, and 8 on pages 129, 130.

Thursday, Sept 16: Read sections 4.4 and 4.5 and do the practice problems. Hand in: problems 3, 5, and 8 on pages 129, 130 and problems 4 and 10 on pages 140, 141.

Week 6:

Due Tuesday, Sept 21: Hand in: problems 8 and 12 on page 141.

Thursday, Sept 23: TEST The test will consist mainly of problems similar to practice problems, class activity problems, and homework problems from chapter 2 (from section 2.2 onwards), chapter 3, sections 4.3 - 4.5. Remember that answers to the practice problems are in the book. To study for the test, start by doing all the practice problems and checking your answers.
