Week 1:

Monday, January 12: first day of class

Due Wednesday, January 14:

1) Write me an e-mail (send it to sybilla at math dot uga dot edu ) about the following
a) the most significant things you learned in class on Monday and
b) the questions you have about Monday’s material.
2) Read the information about MATH 5003 on the course website. You are responsible for knowing the policies and expectations of the course, including the way I will determine your course participation score and your letter grade.
3) Read chapter 3 to page 108.

MATH 7003 students only: begin to brainstorm ideas for your project.

Week 2:

Monday, January 19: MLK holiday, no class

Due Wednesday, January 21: Do the practice problems for section 3.1. Hand in: problems 1 and 11 on pages 115, 117. Also hand in: write an equation (which can involve only numbers or numbers and variables) and write a story problem/situation that goes along with your equation.
