Week 3:
Monday, September 5: holiday
Due Wednesday, September 7: Hand in the following assignment, which will count as a quiz score. Write 4 sets of 3 ratio problems (for a total of 12 problems) to address the 6th grade GPS algebra standards M6A1 and M6A2 (see http://www.georgiastandards.org/math.asp ). Each of the 3 problems within a set should be variations on one problem: one an easier version, one a medium version, one a harder version. In each case, the easier problem should help prepare students for the medium problem and the medium problem should help prepare students for the harder problem. For each problem, discuss briefly how you expect students to solve the problem. Also discuss how the easier problem helps prepare students for the medium problem and how the medium problem helps prepare students for the harder problem. In designing your problems, consider the following:
Due Friday, September 9: Read about using the Consumer Price Index on pages 306 - 308 and do practice problems 6 - 11 on page 309. Read pages 648 - 650 and do the practice problems on page 650.
