Wednesday, August 16: First day of class.
Here are revised section 7.6 text and activities. There is no need for you to print these out. I will hand out any activities we use in class. Revised section 7.6 text, revised section 7.6 activities.
Due Friday, August 18: nothing due
Week 1:
Due Monday, August 21: Read the revised section 7.6 text (linked above) through page 8. Do, but don't hand in: practice problems 1 - 6 on pages 22 - 23 and problems 1 - 3 on page 33 of the revised section 7.6. Hand in: problems 5 and 6 on pages 33, 34 of revised section 7.6, using only using ratio tables, but solving each problem in two different ways. In each case, explain why it makes sense to reason that way.
MATH 7035 students only: begin to brainstorm ideas for your project.
Due Wednesday, August 23: Reread revised section 7.6 text (linked above) through page 8 and review practice problems 1 - 6 on pages 22 - 23. Hand in: problems 5 and 6 on pages 33, 34 of the revised section 7.6 (linked above), but this time, use strip diagrams to solve the problems. Be sure to explain the reasoning clearly.
Due Friday, August 25: Finish the activities on pages 8, 9, 10 of the revised 7.6 activities (handed out in class).
Week 2:
Due Monday, August 28: Read revised section 7.6 through the middle of page 17.
Due Wednesday, August 30: Read revised section 7.6 through the middle of page 19. Do practice problems 7, 8 on page 23 of revised 7.6. Hand in problems 4, 8, 9, 15, 20, and 22 on pages 34 -36 of revised 7.6.
Due Friday, September 1: Read the rest of section 7.6 (either the revised version or in the book) and do the remaining practice problems. Hand in: problem 22 on page 314 of the text (which is the same as problem 33 on page 41 of revised 7.6).
