Due Monday, March 27: Second part of field assignment due. Read section 12.1 and do the practice problems.

Due Wednesday, March 29: Read section 12.2 and do the practice problems. Hand in problems 8, 9, and 10 on page 555.

Thursday office hour at 12:15 is cancelled but I will be there for the 10 am office hour.

Week 12:

Due Monday, April 3: Read section 12.3 and do the practice problems. Hand in the following problems from the Activity Manual: problem 3 on page 385 of the Activity Manual, Activity 12 D on page 387, problem 7 on page 389 (of Activity Manual), and explain why the following relationship concerning problem 4 on page 392 of the activity manual must hold: the number of petals is LCM(number of dots and the "jump number"*) divided by the "jump number". (Hint: explain why it is that for a flower pattern to "close up" the number of dots you have "gone past" must be a multiple of the number of dots and a multiple of the "jump number").

*The "jump number" is the number of dots you "jump" to make each petal. So if you connect every 8th dot to make the petals, the jump number is 8.

Due Wednesday, April 5: Read sections 12.4 and 12.5 and do the practice problems. Do but don't hand in (there may be similar problems on the test Monday): problem 4 on page 565, and problems 2, 9, 11 on pages 568 - 570.
