Week 11:

Due Tuesday, October 30 : Read section 6.1 and do the practice problems.

Due Thursday, November 1 : Read section 6.2 and do the practice problems. Hand in: (typed, as usual, except for pictures/equations etc.) Problems 4, 9, and 18 on pages 270 - 272, and problem 3 on page 277.

Math 7020: the next (and last) extra assignment is now posted, due November 20.

Week 12:

Due Tuesday, November 6 : QUIZ on sections 5.2 to 5.7. Read sections 6.3 and 6.4 and do the practice problems. Also read the chapter 6 summary and study items. Hand in: (typed, as usual, except for pictures/equations etc.) problems 3 and 6 on page 286. There is a typo in problem 6: the calculator is supposed to be able to show no more than 8 digits (not 12).

Due Thursday, November 8 : Read section 7.1 and do the practice problems. Do but don't hand in: problem 1, parts a - h of Class Activity 7C on pages 191, 192 of the Activity Manual. Hand in: (typed, as usual, except for pictures/equations etc.): Problem 2 on page 192 of the Activity Manual. Please write this on a separate sheet of paper, do not hand in the Activity Manual page.
