Week 1:

Tuesday, Jan 9: first day of class

Due Thursday, Jan 11: Read the course website, including all the course policies. Read section 8.1 and do practice problems 1 - 5 (check your answers in the answer section).

MATH 7030 students only: begin to brainstorm ideas for your project.

Week 2:

Due Tuesday, January 16: Do the remaining practice problems in section 8.1 (and check your answers). Hand in: 1) Problem 3 on page 326 (no explanation needed) and also: 2) Draw two different patterns for two different cones and describe briefly what you would need to do to make the cones from the patterns. 3) Problem 5 on page 326 and 4) Problem 10 a, b on page 328.

Due Thursday, January 18: Read section 8.2 to page 331 and do practice problems 1 - 6.
