Week 9:
Due Tuesday, March 6: Read section 10.1 and do the practice problems. Hand in: problems 10, 13 a, b on pages 429, 430 and the following: determine the height of a tree (or other tall object) using three different methods, each of which uses similarity (no climbing the tree!). Describe your methods and explain why they work. You may use measurements obtained in class on 2/27.
No office hours on Wednesday 3/7since I will be in DC.
Due Thursday, March 8: Read sections 10.2 - 10.5 and do the practice problems in those sections.
Spring break: March 12 - 16
Week 10:
Due Tuesday, March 20: Read section 10.6 and do the practice problems. Do but don't hand in: problems 8, 11, 15 on page 468. Hand in: Problem 4 on page 442, problem 1 (a) on page 457 (be sure to address the child's confusion), and problem 4 on page 461.
Due Thursday, March 22: QUIZ on similarity, section 9.4. Read section 11.1 and do the practice problems.
