This field experience assignment is due Wednesday, November 5.

During your field experience, you should teach math and observe math being taught as often as possible. Your field experience assignment is as follows:

1. Plan and teach at least two math lessons.
2. (42.5 % each) Write essays about two of the mathematics lessons that you taught, including the following:
• (4.5 %) Either describe your lesson plans in detail or attach detailed lesson plans.
• (19 %) Carefully analyze and discuss the strong and weak points in your presentation of the mathematical topic, and in the children's mathematics learning. Which aspects of the lesson did or did not help the children learn the mathematical topic, and why do you think those aspects did or did not help the children learn?
• (19 %) Describe at least two significant ways that the mathematics teaching and the mathematics learning opportunities in your lesson could be improved or extended. Your suggested improvements or extensions should focus on significant mathematics that is appropriate for the grade level. Describe your proposed problems, activities, or questions specifically and in detail. What mathematics would you expect the children to learn from your proposals?
3. (15 %) Write one essay describing in detail some of the mathematics that the children will learn between now and the end of the following academic year that builds on or is closely related to the mathematics you taught. In other words, describe and discuss "where the math goes next".
