Lots of time off. Average working only 8 days a month. Leaves lots
of time for other activities such as traveling. Only bad point is
work is usually at night. You are constantly adjusting your body clock.

Retired from US Air Force
in 1995. I have been working at my current job since Oct 95.
Suggestions for students:
Never give up. Having a
contact within the organization you want to work for can certainly
make things go more smoothly. Therefore, make as many contacts as
you can and keep in touch with them as you progress through life.
Advisor/Student relationship:
A degree in mathematics
is universal and can be applied to just about any occupation you choose.
