Current Announcements - Math 2200L & Math 2210L

(last modified August 23, 2002)

(New)The open labs will begin next week on Monday. Room 308 in Grad Studies will be open from 10 am to 2 pm daily. Room 221 will be open Monday through Thursday evenings between 6 pm and 10 pm. These labs will be closed on Labor Day, September 2.
(New) There have been a few problems reading the project files on MacIntosh machines. In many cases this is due to having older versions of the browser Netscape or Internet Explorer. If you are having such problems, first try to upgrade your browser. More information will be forthcoming.
The calculus labs Math 2200L and Math 2210L are co-requisites for the calculus courses Math 2200 and Math 2210 respectively. These courses are taught in GSRC rooms 220 and 221.
The only thing that you need to bring for the first class is a floppy disc for saving your work. If you have an Arches account, you can save your work electronically if you choose.

The software that is used in the calculus labs is Maple 8. You are not required to purchase the software. For those wishing to purchase Maple 8 for personal computers, it is available at the University Bookstore. Maple is available at the major EITS labs on campus.

There will be times when certain labs in GSRC are open for you to come and work on your projects. These labs will be staffed with individuals who will be able to help you with both mathematical questions and Maple questions about your projects. The schedule of these labs is still being worked on at this time. The open labs should begin during the second week of the semester.

The calculus labs are intended to give you an opportunity to apply ideas and methods that you are learning in the regular calculus course. You should feel free to ask your regular calculus instructor questions (especially mathematical questions) concerning your calculus lab.
