Weekly Seminars (Fall 2007)

All seminars are held in the Boyd Graduate Studies Research Center.

Algebra Seminar :  Benjamin Jones
Monday
2:30p.m., Room 410

VIGRE Algebra Student Seminar Daniel Nakano
Friday
1:30pm, Room 302

Since Fall 2003 Brian Boe, Dan Nakano and Dave Benson (replaced by Lenny Chastkofsky in Fall 2005) have organized a VIGRE Algebra Seminar and working research group. The topics for 2003-04 were conjugacy classes of nilpotent matrices via cohomology and representation theory, and support varieties for Lie algebras. The topic for 2004-05 was support varieties for symmetric groups. The topic for 2005-08 is cohomology of Lie algebras. As of October 2005, the group has two papers published in Journal of Algebra, and a third paper submitted. More information on the VIGRE Algebra Group's activities in 2003-07 is available here: http://www.math.uga.edu/~nakano/vigre/vigre.html.

This week's seminar schedule.

Further Information

Dave Benson has compiled a useful archive of preprints on representations and cohomology.

The UGA Graduate Bulletin with information for prospective graduate students is available online. If you are interested in graduate studies in algebra, and you would like further information on our group, please contact any of us.
