Geometry
Group
The geometry group includes algebraic geometry, differential geometry,
mathematical physics, and representation theory. A diverse group
of mathematicians in the department has a number of overlapping
research interests in a broad range of geometric problems. We share
research interests with faculty in number
theory, topology, and algebra.

Conferences
Each spring we host or participate in the Southeastern Geometry
Conference. In recent years this conference has been held in Athens,
Charleston SC, and Columbia SC.
VIGRE
Since the Fall of 2001 we have had VIGRE research groups on ropelength
of knots (Cantarella), moduli of curves (Alexeev), birational geometry
(Alexeev), quantum mechanics (Varley), computational knot geometry
(Cantarella), and higher-dimensional analogs of stable curves (Alexeev).

Further Information
Our Graduate
Bulletin with information for prospective graduate students
is available online. If you are interested in graduate studies in
geometry or topology, and you would like further information on
our group, please contact any of us.
