Grading Guidelines |
Tests: |
There will be 4 major tests and a 3 hour comprehensive
final exam. Each major test is 15% of your grade, and the final exam is 25%
of your grade. |
Quizzes/Homework: |
Announced quizzes and homework assignments will be given and the average of these 15% is of your overall grade. |
Important Date Classes Begin : Jan. 9th Midpoint Withdrawal Deadline : Mar. 7th Spring Break : Mar. 13th-17th Classes End : May 1st Reading Day : May 2nd Final
Exams : May 3rd-5th,
May 8th-9th Grades
Due :
May 12th Attendance |
: |
Attendance will be taken daily. Any student with 3 or
fewer absences, excused or unexcused, may replace their lowest
test grade with their final exam score (if higher). After midterm, a 0.5
point deduction will be taken from the final grade for each unexcused absence
beyond three. Students should make every effort to be on time for class.
Repetitive tardies will also result in a deduction
from your final grade. |
Homework/Quizzes |
: |
Homework will be assigned daily, and it is essential that
you do all reading before attempting the homework assignment. Homework may
not always be collected, but it is critical that you do your homework to
ensure your success in the course. Also, the in-class quizzes will come
directly from the homework assignments. |
WebCT |
: |
You should regularly access my WebCT MAT 1060 course at
http://webct.uga.edu. You can email me and/or your classmates within the
WebCT course, follow the course calendar, discuss topics, set up study
groups, etc. I will also post quiz and exam keys as we have them. |
Class Policies |
: |
As a general rule no makeup exams or quizzes will be
allowed. I will drop at least two quiz grades at the end of the semester, and
the final exam can (if you have good attendance—see Attendance) replace your
lowest (or missing) test grade. The group practice assignments are graded on
participation and completeness. A student who is absent on a GP day but hands
in the GP on time will receive 70% credit for the assignment. A student who
is present for the GP but plans to be absent the day it is due needs to make
arrangements to hand in the GP early in order to receive full credit. |
