OBJECTIVE:
The
primary goal of this course is for you to understand and know how to work with
the derivative. You should know how to
take the derivative of a polynomial, trig functions, exponential/logarithmic
functions, and combinations of these.
You should also know how to use the derivative to solve optimization
problems, related rates, and sketch curves. You are expected to be able to
demonstrate your understanding of the material by solving the problems similar
to those covered in class, not just repeating things exactly like the ones on
the board.

EXAMS: There will be 4
in-class exams given (equally spaced) throughout the semester. Each exam is worth 15% of your grade . Questions on the exams will test for understanding

Exam 2 – 15th October
Exam 3 – 12th November

scheduled for December 12, 2007 from 12 pm to 3 pm. It will most likely be in
our regular classroom, but any changes will be announced in class. Also, I will replace your lowest exam grade with your
