Co-requisite: Math 2200L or equivalent. The lab is to be taken in conjunction with the regular Calculus class.

Grading: The normal 10 point grading scale will be used: [90,100] ==> A; [80,90) ==> B; [70,80) ==> C; [60,70) ==> D; [0,60) ==> F. There will be three unit tests (subject to change). There will be quizzes about every 3 class meetings which may be announced or unannounced. At least one quiz grade will be dropped, and the rest will be averaged to count as a test grade. The lowest test grade will be dropped (which could be your quiz average). The final exam will count as two test grades and cannot be dropped. The purpose of the dropped grade is to compensate for the “harsh” make-up policy which is listed below.

Extra Credit: There will be no extra credit.

Homework: Homework will usually be assigned at the end of every class. While the homework will not be collected, the quiz questions will come directly from the homework. In addition, doing the assignments is the only way to master the material for the tests.

Quiz/Test Dates: These dates will be posted on WebCT later.

Make-up Assignments: There will be no make-ups. If you miss a quiz or a test, it will count as your dropped grade. So do not miss a graded activity without due cause. The only exception to this rule is if you are going to miss more than can be dropped and ALL of your absences are as a result of a university recognized absence, e.g. recognized death in family, hospitalization, etc.

Attendance: Attendance is necessary for your success in this class. However, no attendance will be taken, and there is no deduction for missing class. See the make-up section above for more information about missing assignments.

Calculator usage: It will be expected that you have a graphing calculator. No calculator which does symbolic manipulation (e.g. TI-92, TI-89) is allowed. My recommendation is the TI-83 which I personally use.

Academic Honesty: You are required to follow the university’s honor policy on all of your work in this class. Collaboration is encouraged during homework, but the work which is graded should be 100% yours. Any violation of the academic honesty policy will result in the maximum allowable penalty for such an infraction including (but not limited to) receiving an F for the assignment and/or the class and being turned over to the proper authorities for further discipline. You are responsible for maintaining the integrity of your work. Failure to secure your work is also a violation of the academic honesty policy of this class. Dropping the Class: In order to comply with departmental policies regarding lab enrollment, to drop the lab you must also drop the lecture. Failure to do so could result in the department withdrawing you administratively from the lecture. You may, however, drop the lecture and keep the lab if your lab instructor approves.
