MATH 2200L (Call #:01-922):
Course
Objectives: This course aims to introduce you to performing
mathematics computations
with Maple. The other major goal of this course is to teach you how to write papers explaining
mathematical computations, in a
manner that is clear and concise.
Co
requisite Course: MATH 2200.
A student who is withdrawn from
Math2200L should withdraw from the co requisite course. This
process is NOT done automatically, so a student should apply electronically for the process through
the OASIS. (Midpoint Withdrawal Deadline: Fri, Oct.15)
Materials
and Information: The lab manual is available for free at the following
website.

Projects and Schedule: The primary activity of this course is doing the following 5 projects.
Week 1 - 3: Introduction to 2200L
Week 4 - 6: Introduction to Limits
Week 7 - 9: Tangent Lines
Week 10 -13: New Newton’s Method
Week 14-15: Analysis of a Graph
Grade:
- 10 points are possible for each submission.
2 points will be taken off if late.

Please, participate in
the class activity! |
|
Letter Grade |
Condition |
|
A |
7.5 points or more in average |
|
B |
between 7.5 pts and 5pts |
|
C |
between 5 pts and 3pts |
|
W or WF |
lower than 3pts or regardless of their average if 5absences or more. |
Attendance
Policy: A student with 5 excused or unexcused absences will be
withdrawn from the lab at any time of the semester. Three unexcused absences or
more will result in lowering one’s course grade by one letter; e.g., if a
student misses three labs and gets A on projects, then it will be lowered to B.
At most two make ups are allowed, and a makeup form is available form the
instructor.
The Academic Honesty Statement:
The student’s signature and a copy of the Academic
Honesty Statement should be included at
the very end of each report. Students are
encouraged to work with other students;
however, the reports should NOT be identical. That
is, students are supposed to use their own
words to explain their works. If this
statement or
signature is missing, then
the report will not be graded and will be returned to the student.
