Penney, Calculus, Early Transcendental
Version, Sixth Edition, 2003.
Topics to be covered: Riemann Sums and The definite integral,
Applications of the integral, Transcendental functions and techniques of
integration, Differential Equations.
Grading:

20 % for Quizzes
·
30 % for mid-term exam
·
45 % for the final exam.
·
5% for attendance
Quizzes:
There
will be 7 short quizzes during the semester. Two lowest grades will be dropped in
calculating your total grade. The quizzes will cover recent homework.
Examinations:
There
will be one midterm examination during the course. It will be held in class on
Wednesday, October 6th. The date and place for your final will be announced in
class later.
No books, lecture notes or
electronic calculators will be permitted during any examination or quiz in this course.
You may write notes on a 8.5" X
11" card and bring this to the midterm and final exams.
PLEASE NOTE THAT NO MAKEUP QUIZZES AND
EXAMS WILL BE GIVEN IN THIS COURSE.
Homework: Homework
is the most important part of the course. Although it will not be collected,
you should spend some time on it because your quizzes will consist of a few homework
problems. You are encouraged to work with other students on the homework
problems. However, it is crucial that you write up all of the assignments on
your own. In order to do well on the quizzes and the examinations, it is
essential that you do all of the homework problems thoroughly.
