The text is Introductory Mathematical Analysis for business, economics and life
sciences, 10th ed. by Haeussler and Paul.
Attendance policy: If you have two unexcused absences on or before September 5, you will be dropped from the class.
Prerequisite: Math 2200 is a formal prerequisite, and a good understanding of it is essential to success in the course. We will review the basics of Math 2200 over the first few days this semester. This is also the material required for the first test on Friday, August 27.
There will be three hour tests and a final examination. Homework will be assigned every week but will not be collected. There will be a quiz on Friday of the weeks there is no test, covering problems similar to the assigned homework.
The use of graphing calculators is encouraged and will be allowed during all tests and quizzes, and in the final exam.
The course midpoint (final date for withdrawals with a grade of W) is Tuesday, October 14. The final exam will be given Friday, December 12, 2003, 12:00--3:00 pm in 154 Geology.
Your final course grade will be based on the formula:
Hour tests 45%
Final exam 30%
Homework and quizzes 15%
Participation and effort 10%
Finally, as goes without saying:
All students are responsible for maintaining the highest standards of honesty
and integrity in every phase of their academic careers. The penalties for academic
dishonesty are severe and ignorance is not an acceptable defense.
