Course:  You will be working on projects. The projects are about mathematical problems 

                that you will be investigating with Maple. You will have to write reports for   

                each project. In the reports you should include the calculations you made, plus  

               description and explanation in English of what you have done.

Attendance Policy: A student who misses three or more classes that he/she does not

                                 make up will have his/her grade lowered by one letter grade.

Grading: Your reports will be graded. You will also have 4 quizzes. The lowest quiz

                 score will be dropped. Each report and each quiz will count for 10%. The

                 scores needed to get the various grades are:

                 A: 90%-100%; B: 80%-89%; C: 70%-79%; D: 60%-69%; F: less than 60%.

Withdrawal Policy: If a student withdraws from a lab, the student must withdraw from  

                                  regular course. Students will initiate their own withdrawals on

                                  OASIS. The midpoint withdrawal deadline is March, 5th.
Academic Honesty: All students are responsible for maintaining the highest standards of

                                  honesty and integrity in every phase of their academic careers. The

                                  penalties for academic dishonesty are severe and ignorance is not

                                  an acceptable defense.

Additional Information: 

  1. You are encouraged to work in groups on projects. You may obtain results as a group. However, the final write-up of your report must be your own. Each student must sign her/his report after the academic honesty statement at the end of each report.
  2. Room 221 will be open Monday through Thursday between 6pm and 10pm for students to get help with the calculus labs and Maple. Room 308 will be open as well  Monday through Friday, between 10am and 2pm.   
  3. This course syllabus provides a general plan for the course: deviation may be necessary.
