Course: You will be working on projects. The projects are about mathematical problems
that you will be investigating with Maple. You will have to write reports for
each project. In the reports you should include the calculations you made, plus
description and explanation in English of what you have done.
Projects: Project 1: New Introduction to 2200L Jan, 12-Jan, 26, Report due on Feb, 2
Project 2: Definition of Derivatives\Quiz1 Feb, 2-Feb, 9, Report due on Feb, 16
Project 3: Tangent lines Feb, 16-Feb, 23, Report due on Mar, 1
Project 4:
Project 5: Closest Points Mar, 22, Report due on Mar, 29
Project 5: The Bungee Jump\Quiz3 Mar, 29-Apr, 5, Report due on Apr, 12
Project 6: Analysis of a Graph\Quiz4 Apr, 12-Apr, 19, Report due on Apr, 26
Attendance Policy: A student who misses three or more classes that he/she does not
make up will have his/her grade lowered by one letter grade.
Grading: Your reports will be graded. You will also have 4 quizzes. The lowest quiz
score will be dropped. Each report and each quiz will count for 10%. The
scores needed to get the various grades are:
A: 90%-100%; B: 80%-89%; C: 70%-79%; D: 60%-69%; F: less than 60%.
Withdrawal Policy: If a student withdraws from a lab, the student must withdraw from
regular course. Students will initiate their own withdrawals on
OASIS. The midpoint withdrawal deadline is March, 5th.
Academic Honesty: All students are
responsible for maintaining the highest standards of
honesty and integrity in every phase of their academic careers. The
penalties for academic dishonesty are severe and ignorance is not
an acceptable defense.
