OBJECTIVE: The primary goal of this
course is for you to understand and know how to work with the derivative. You should know how to take the derivative of
polynomials, trig functions, exponential/logarithmic functions, and
combinations of these. You should also
know how to use the derivative to solve optimization problems, related rates,
and sketch curves.
WEBCT: I have the class on WEBCT. Please refer to this site for announcements
and updates. I will also post your
grades on this website as I get them in.
COREQUISITE: You must alsoenroll in MATH 2200L (Calculus Lab). However, if you withdraw from the lab, you MUST also withdraw from the class.
HOMEWORK/QUIZZES: I will frequently
assign homework problems from the textbook., which will not always be picked up. It is your responsibility to keep up with the
homework. There will be a quiz given
every Thursday , which will consist of 1-3 problems
from the homework. There will NOT be any
make-up quizzes given.
TESTS:
There will be 3 in-class tests given throughout the semester. If there is some reason you cannot take the
test on the scheduled date, you must let me know as soon as possible. The tentative dates for the tests:

The Final Exam is cumulative and
scheduled for Thursday, May 6,
GRADING: The
Final grade will be determined by the following break down:
Quizzes/Homework 15%

tests (20% each) 60%
Final
Exam 25%
ATTENDANCE POLICY: There is no official attendance policy for this class, however, at the end of the semester I will take into consideration your participation and attendance in the class. If you want to do well in this class, you need to attend the class.
ACADEMIC HONESTY: All students are
