Textbook
The required text is Linear Algebra, a Geometric Approach by Theodore
Shifrin and Malcolm R. Adams , published by Freeman, 2002.
Syllabus Chapters 1-6 of the text. (Systems of
linear equations,
Matrix Algebra, Vector Spaces, Projections and orthogonality,
Determinants, Eigenvalues and eigenvectors).
Tests, homework, and grading
There will be 4 tests and a final exam. Homework will be assigned
every
day but only some of it will be collected for grading.
Each term test counts for 15%, as does the homework. The final counts
for 25% of the grade. If it is to your advantage, your lowest test
grade
will be dropped and replaced by the grade on your final.
