Course Description

We will be studying arithmetic and its applications with a stress on the reasons why various procedures work.

Mathematics for Elementary Teachers, volume 1 and the accompanying Class Activities

manual by Sybilla Beckman.

Attendance

Attendance will be taken every class meeting.

Grading

Tests: There will be four tests during the semester (one every three weeks) each counting 15% of the course grade. No make-ups will be given for missed tests.

Final Exam: There will be a mandatory cumulative final exam. This exam will count 40% of the course grade or 50% if a test is missed.
