Travel Information

The Conference will be held in the Miller Learning Center (rm 148) and in the UGA Math Department in the Boyd Graduate Studies Bldg.

  •  To get to Athens, you should fly into Atlanta's Hartsfield International Airport (ATL). There are then 3 principal options for getting to Athens:

    • A shuttle service, AAA Airport Express (800-354-7874), provides the 90 minute trip to Athens for $45 one way.  You should contact them directly to make a reservation. AAA Airport Express drops off and picks up at local hotels and near the math department, at the Georgia Center.
    • One airline, Georgia Skies, flies from Atlanta to Athens Ben-Epps Airport (AHN). There are 6 flights each day (3 on weekends) and tickets are usually $42 one way, including taxes. From Athens airport, you can take a 15 minute taxi ride to the UGA campus, or area hotels.
    • For two or more people travelling together, it may be cheapest to rent a car from Atlanta airport. The best route depends on Atlanta's unpredictable traffic. During rush hour, take I-285 east to I-20 east, then GA-138 and US-78. Late at night, or in the middle of the day, you can take I-85 north through downtown Atlanta, then GA-316.

There are a couple of other ways to get to Athens. Sometimes you'll find cheaper rates if you fly into Greenville-Spartanburg Airport (GSP). It is a 2 hour, low traffic drive to or from Athens. You will need to rent a car if you land there.

  • Some information about Athens, including restaurants and music
  • Campus Map
  • The campus bus system is a convenient and free way to get around campus. During the conference these are on the "Intersession" schedule and only run Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 6:00pm. The Red Route travels between Downtown (near the Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express hotels), and the Math Department (where the talks are) and Georgia Center Hotel.
  • Parking at UGA
  • There is a parking deck 5 minutes walk from the department, that costs $8-10/day. After 5pm and on Saturday and Sunday you can park in any of the campus lots (except the parking deck) at no cost.
