It is Fall semester of 2002. I am teaching Math/CS 4670/6670,
which is UGA's way of saying
Class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30-1:45 in room 303 Boyd.
My office is 540 Boyd. I'm the one by the window. I have
a phone which will ring if you dial 542-2644.
You can also email me at:
abrams@math.uga.edu
I will have office hours Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00-11:30.
I am often in my office at other
times, and you are welcome to stop by. You can also make an appointment
if you want.
The textbook is "Applied Combinatorics," by Fred Roberts.
I will assign homework each day. I will collect it, and I will
look at what you turn in, but I will not grade
it. Sadly, we don't have a grader for this course. I will
post homework
solutions (scanned .pdf files) on
this site. You should consult them (after doing the homework).
Schedule:
We will have 5 short tests,
one every other week for ten weeks.
Test 1: Thursday August 29
Test 2: Thursday September 12
Test 3: Thursday September 26
Test 4: Thursday October 10
Test 5: Thursday October 24
After that we will spend a few weeks on student presentations.
With the remaining time we'll return to combinatorics.
There will be a final exam
at the end. It's on Tuesday, 17 December, at 8:00-11:00 am.
Grading:
Each test will be worth 10%
of your grade.
Your presentation will be
worth 20% of your grade.
The final will be worth
30% of your grade.
