| Below are some pictures from a project I created for my MATH 5002 class, Geometry for Future Elementary School Teachers, in Fall 08. The pumpkin project took two days, one for designing our pumpkins and one for decorating them. For the planning stage, students selected a pumpkin and got to know it by making measurements and then designing a box that would fit the pumpkin. Next, students designed a face for their pumpkin and calculated the area of that face. Finally, they were asked design a witch hat out of a cone and circle such that the hat had a predetermined height. During the second class, we put our plans into action decorating our pumpkins and enjoying some apple cider. |
