Important Announcements

  • The first HW set is posted below. Note that the HWs will not be graded. Still, it is in your best interest to solve these problems, as the test problems are likely to be similar type problems. Also the pop-quiz problems will be similar, or sometimes exactly the same as the HW problems.
  • Another way to get help: The Mathematics Study Hall provides FREE math tutoring and is open in Room 322 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in Boyd from 3:30p.m.-5:30p.m. You can get assistance in many other math courses including Math 2200.
  • The second test is on Wednesday. I plan to do some review on Monday, I will solve a few more optimization problems, and answer any questions you might have. Please make sure to check out the last HW.
  • Test 3 will contain problems similar to the ones in HW#9, HW#10 and HW#11.
  • Final exam will be on December 14, at Poultry Science building Room #240 (same room) between 12:00-1:30pm (Not at 12:30pm!!!)
  • Problems on the final will be from the following three categories:
    • Important topics:
      • Limits (Section 2.2-2.3)
      • Derivatives (Consider functions like 2^x, or logarithm in base 'a') (Section 3.1-3.4)
      • Optimization (Section 3.6)
    • NEW Topics:
      • Curve Sketching (Section 4.5-4.7)
      • Anti-derivatives, Integrals (Section 5.2 and 8.3)
      • Differential Equations, Initial Value Problems (Section 5.2 and 8.3)
    • Problem types that I have not asked before:
      • Mean Value Theorem (Section 4.3)
      • Second derivative test (Section 4.6)
      • Geometric meaning of derivative (Matching a graph of a function with the graph of its derivative)
  • I do not plan to ask questions on Logarithmic Differentiation, Rolle's theorem and Related Rates.
