MATH 4250/6250 Problem Set 12, due Friday, April 17, 2009
Problems from Oprea: (3.3.10), (3.4.2), (5.5.2).
Notes:
(3.3.10) and (3.4.2) were on problem set 11 (which wasn't turned in).
The background for problem (5.5.2) is explained on page 235. The little circle notation (with x or y subscript) just means the usual dot product in R3. This notation was introduced in section 5.4 (p. 227) to study surfaces that are not in R3, but this generality is not needed here.
