Overall, being a professor in a small
university is a great job if, like me, you're lucky enough to work in
an active, supportive, and collegial department. Teaching and all the
associated work consume much of one's time and energy, but there can
be a great deal of freedom in how one pursues his/her own scholarly
endeavors.
Suggestions for students:
Be able to demonstrate creativity
and the willingness to do more than just what's expected.
