Mysti Walter
Position:
Computer Programmer / Analyst
Employer:
Astea International
Job description:
I fix bugs found by our customers in the
software package that our company wrote. I also help develop specs
for custom work that our customers want to enhance the basic software
package.
Salary range:
$40,000 - $55,000
Job satisfaction:
I like my job a lot. I went into
programming because I feel that it requires the same type of logical
thinking and problem solving that Mathematics requires. Once you
learn the language that you need to program in there is little
frustration except for the occasional bug that doesn't want to be
solved. Over all I think that I made a good choice.
Employment history:
I started off with a Manufacturing company
doing Customer Support in the Repair department. I took calls from
customers that wanted to return their equipment for service and
processed the paperwork to complete and return the equipment to the
customer.
I then got a job with my current company doing Customer Support
for our software package. I learned the inside and outs of the
software package and that made my promotion into Programming very
smooth.
