I took AP Calc. from Silvia Randall at Riverwood.  She was  the most amazing teacher.  I couldn't have dreamed for a better one.  She taught us the reasons behind the processes & therefore (now) I still retain that knowledge instead of forgetting formulas.

I didn't feel adequately prepared for college math.

The math classes I took in high school were very beneficial to my college course work.  I only wish I had taken more math, because it would have helped me more.

Yes, take math their senior year.

Mathematics at UGA have strengthen my mathematic ability tremendously.  From this class I plan to enter MATH.1113.

Due to my HS curriculum, I feel I was definitely prepared for college math.  To better prepare, students must be sure they have a solid foundation in basic math skills and calculator use.

Do not get too dependent on calculators.

Mathematics at UGA is more theoretical than computational.  As Mr. Johnson might have told you, college teachers teach more old-fashioned methods of solving equations than you do.  You will have to explain yourself on all word problems and document how you got there.  Although, don't worry it's not any harder than AP Calc in high school.

It helped me immensely taking calculus in High School.  Everything that we learned this semester, I already learned last year.

Take Calculus in High School.

The first semester of math at UGA was not too difficult for me.  I took calculus my senior year of high school, and I was able to place into the calculus class here.  To high school students, I advise to take four years of math, even if it is not a requirement to do so.  This will prepare you well for whichever college math course you place into.

It has been tough here, more challenging than high school - but what would you expect?  If you have any inclination toward science, math, business, economics and really just about any field, take math.  Do as well as you can, and be as serious about your academics as you can.  To any college bound student, they will matter more than you probably think.

I enjoyed mathematics and feel adequately prepared.  The best way to approach your mathematical learning is to relax, write every step down, and think through each step.

I graduated from North with honors in '97 and decided to pursue a B.S. at UGA.  This and most other curriculum at the University require a math class, usually calculus.  I took 1 semester of pre calculus at North, didn't make a great grade and dropped down to advanced algebra and trig.  Big Mistake! Trust me, take pre calculus or even calculus despite your final grade in the class.  I regret not sticking with the precalculus class 2nd semester and have paid for it.  Don't make the same mistake I did.

When you're taking pre calculus in high school, concentrate especially on understanding the principles of trigonometry.  If it is possible, it would be extremely advisable to take a math course all four years of high school, and AP calculus is extremely helpful to student planning to take calculus course(s) in college.

Take as many math and science courses as you can! I didn't take a science my senior year, and believe me - my chemistry grade represents just how much I don't remember.  Anything that you want to learn for fun...take in high school.

I felt well prepared in taking calculus at UGA.  I encourage students to take AP courses and AP exams.  I think taking AP courses my senior year gave me a head start as a freshman at Georgia.
