Grading

weights: homework 10%; quiz 10%; 2 in-class exams 40%; final exam 40%. Two lowest quiz's scores will be dropped.

Homework

We will do most of the homework through WebWork. Here is a simple tutorial on how to use WebWork. Homework may also be assigned from the text book. They will not be collected, but it is important to do it because exam and quiz problems will be based on homework problems.

Quiz

Once a week. 15 minutes.

In-class exams

There are two 1-hour in-class exams. Dates will be announced soon.

Calculator

Basic calculator without graphing function is allowed to use in homework/quiz/exam.

Attendance

Attendance is very important in this class.
The official attendance policy of the university states: Students are expected to attend classes regularly. A student who incurs an excessive number of absences may be withdrawn from a class at the discretion of the professor http://www.bulletin.uga.edu/Bulletin_Files/acad/general_Link.html . We interpret "excessive" to mean four or more unexcused absences.

Collaboration and Academic Honesty

You are strongly encouraged to form study groups to work on your homework. However you must write up your own homework. Cheating in exams are zero tolerated and will be reported to the university.
