This course is designed to prepare a student for calculus. It is the culmination of the study of function prior to calculus. The successful student will complete an algebra review, a detailed study of functions and models, and study of specific functions including powers, exponentials, logarithms, rational functions, and trigonometric functions; and demonstrate understanding of each. The complete content list can be found on the web at http://www.math.uga.edu/undergraduate/1113.pdf .
Attendance Policy
Students are expected to attend classes regularly. A student who incurs an excessive number of absences (5 or more) may be withdrawn from a class with WF. See http://bulletin.uga.edu/bulletin/ind/attendance.html for more information.
Switching Sections Policy
If a students is struggling in this class, he/she can switch to an intensive section of Math1113 up until Sept. 12 or drop back to one of the sections of univ 1110 up until oct. 3rd and save his/her 3 credit hours. This policy is even more important now that students can only have 4 withdraws for their whole time here at UGA.
New Withdrawal Policy
A student matriculating beginning in fall, 2008, will be allowed only four withdrawals in his/her college career. Moreover, effective fall, 2008, an instructor must assign either a WP (signifying that the student is doing passing work) or a WF. Specificly for this class, a student withdrawing after the second exam will receive a WF unless he/she has a marginally passing (D) average in the class (taking into account all relevant data: quiz grades, HW grades, exams, attendance).
