Welcome to Niles's webpage!
I am a postdoc in algebraic topology at the University of Georgia.
This year I am an organizer for the VIGRE Graduate Seminar.
I am also helping to organize the 2010 Georgia Topology Conference.
Research:
My research studies algebraic tools in modern categorical contexts, with a view toward topological applications. My work started with Morita theory, and I am now continuing with Picard and Brauer groups. As a separate project, Justin Noel and are using computer calculations to study power operations on complex-oriented cohomology theories.
Teaching:
In the Fall of 2009, I taught Math 2250 (Calculus I). Currently I am not teaching.
I am a participant in UGA's Math Education for Teachers program; in the Spring of 2010 I am observing Sybilla Beckman's course Math 5002, a geometry course for future Pre-K – 5th grade teachers.
Personal:
Information about my other interests is available in the personal pictures & projects section.
