Week 3:

Tuesday, August 31: Finish reading chapter 2. Do all the practice problems from section 2.5 and check your answers. Read chapter 3 through section 3.1. Do all the practice problems from section 3.1 and check your answers. Hand in problems 4, 12, and 16 on pages 65 - 67.

Thursday, Sept 2: Read sections 3.2 and 3.3 and do the practice problems from these sections (and check your answers). Hand in: problems 8 and 13 on pages 75, 76, and problem 7 on page 82, 83.

Week 4:

Due Tuesday, Sept 7: Read sectiond 3.4 and 3.5 and do the practice problems. Do (to be handed in on Thursday): problems 7, 15 on pages 92, 93 and problem 8 on page 102.

Quiz on Thursday Sept 9: the quiz will consist of problems similar to practice problems, class activity problems, and homework problems from chapter 2 (from section 2.2 onwards) and chapter 3. Remember that answers to the practice problems are in the book. To study for the quiz, start by doing all the practice problems and checking your answers.

Due Thursday, Sept 9: Quiz. Hand in: problems 7, 15 on pages 92 and 93 and problems 5 and 8 on page 102.
