No office hours
Thursday due to the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics annual meeting
in San Diego.
Due Friday,
April 23: Instead of
meeting in class on Friday, please find a computer with Internet access, go to
the website www.ubtriad.org and log in
using the username and password given out in class (or go to math 5002 on
eLearning Commons and find the login information there). Click on the yellow
button ÒBBLTÕsÓ and then in the pop up window, click on Òdevelopment,Ó and then
on Ògeometry,Ó and find the
Òcomposing shapesÓ learning trajectory. Learn about the first 8 levels in that
trajectory (Pre-Composer, Pre-DeComposer, Piece Assembler, Picture Maker,
Simple DeComposer, Shape Composer, Substitution Composer, Shape DeComposer with
help) by reading the descriptions and then clicking on Òmore infoÓ and watching
some or all of the video clips. For each of the 8 steps in the trajectory,
write a summary of what kids at that level can do (or not do) and write some
comments on what you observed in the video clips and what you learned. You may
hand-write these notes. Hand these notes in on Monday.

points (your choice; or problem 2 if you did both 4 and 5 correctly). Do not discuss
the problems with anyone. Write your solution on a new piece of paper and turn
it in with your original test. Be sure to redo the problem completely and
explain your reasoning in detail. You may hand write your revisions.
