Monday, September 2: labor day, no class

Due Wednesday, September 4: Read section 2.5 and do all the exercises. Read the answers to the exercises after you have solved them yourself. Hand in the following:

1. A first draft of your solution to problem 3 of section 2.5, page 86.
2. A brief discussion of the strengths and weaknesses of your first draft in light of the criteria for scored assignments (see grading criteria, and scroll down for the criteria for scored assignments)
3. A second draft in which you improve your first draft based on your observations in #2.

Parts 1 and 2 will be graded as checked assignments and part 3 will be graded as a scored assignment.

Due Friday, September 6: Read sections 2.6 and 2.7 and do all the exercises in both of these sections. Then read the answers to the exercises given in the text. Hand in a second draft only of problem 4 on page 104 of the text. This is a scored assignment.

Due Monday, September 9: Read section 2.8 and do all the exercises. Then read the answers to the exercises given in the text. Hand in a second draft of problem 2 on page 104 of the text. This is a scored assignment.

Due Wednesday, September 11: Read sections 2.9 and 2.10, do all the exercises, and read their answers.

Due Friday, September 13: Read section 3.1, do the exercises, and read their answers. Hand in section 2.9 problem 9, parts a, b, and c, on pages 128, 129. This is a scored assignment.
