Week 5:

Due Monday, September 17: Hand in the homework that was due on Friday, September 14. Read section 2.8 and do all the exercises.

Due Wednesday, September 19: Read sections 2.9 and 2.10 and do all the exercises.

Friday, September 21: (to be checked) Many people find that writing about something helps them to understand it better. This write to learn assignment is intended to help you clarify and deepen your understanding of the material in section 2.9. Pick something from section 2.9 that you have questions about, or that you do not understand as well as you would like to. This can be an exercise, a problem from a class activity, material in the text, or something from class. Write about your question or topic and use your writing to try to answer your question or understand your topic better. Your writing should show true grappling with your question or topic and it should show progression in your thinking. (You need not fully answer your question or come to a full understanding of your topic in order to successfully complete this assignment. Just make as much progress as you can.)

Week 6:

Due Monday, September 24: Test advice on studying for this test

Due Wednesday, September 26: Read sections 3.1 and 3.2 and do the exercises for section 3.1.

Due Friday, September 28: Do the exercises for section 3.2. Hand in: (to be checked) section 3.2 problem #6, page 158.
