Week 1:

Friday, August 17: First day of class.

Due Monday, August 20: Read the introduction to chapter 1 and read section 1.1. Do exercises 1 - 4 of section 1.1, pages 7, 8 (don't hand in). Read the solutions in the answer section only after you have worked the exercises yourself.

Due Wednesday, August 22: Do the remaining exercises of section 1.1 (don't hand in). Read the solutions in the answer section only after you have worked the exercises yourself.

Due Friday, August 24: (to be checked) Hand in section 1.1 problems # 2, 5, pages 16, 17. No explanation is needed for #2.

Week 2:

Due Monday, August 27: Read section 1.2 and do the exercises (don't hand in). Read the solutions in the answer section only after you have worked the exercises yourself.

Due Wednesday, August 29: (to be checked) Hand in section 1.2 problems # 5, 6, pages 35 - 38.

Due Friday, August 31: Read section 1.3 and do all the exercises.
