Due Monday, August 26:
Due Wednesday, August 28: Many people use writing as a way of thinking. This kind of writing is probably best done informally and even "off the cuff". Hand in the following "write to think" assignment: Write one or two pages of your thoughts on the teaching of fractions. What are key points that you will want to emphasize when you teach about fractions? What are you still wondering about concerning the teaching of fractions? This is a checked assignment; it will not be scored for accuracy, but for the extent to which it addresses the questions, and for the care and effort it shows. Write informally--you may even write in a "stream of consciousness" style -- but use your writing as a way of really grappling with some of the issues you see in the teaching of fractions.
