- To solve (8 1/2) x (4 3/4), we
might be tempted to calculate as follows: (8x4) + (1/2 x 3/4).
Explain clearly why this is not correct (a picture might be
helpful). Give two different valid ways to calculate (8 1/2) x (4
3/4). (One of your two ways could correct the mistaken way shown
above.)
