This Field experience assignment is due Wednesday, March 27.

During your field experience, you should create a number of opportunities either to observe math being done by children, to observe math being taught by a teacher, or to teach math. Write frequent notes about your experiences with math (you may wish to write these notes in a journal that you use for other classes). Look for math-specific items that you find interesting or would like to think more about. These math-specific items can include children's interesting or unusual methods for solving math problems, children's comments or discussions about math, questions about math content, or any thoughts or questions specifically concerning mathematics that arise during the field experience. On Wednesday, March 27, turn in 4 separate pages of written discussions on 4 interesting math-specific items that you encountered during the field experience. Each page should describe a single item clearly, and should discuss what you found interesting about this item, or what questions it raised for you.

Your score on this assignment (on the usual 5 point scale) will be determined based on the quality of your written discussions and the extent to which they show that you have thought about math and the teaching of math during your field experience.
