Week 5:

Due Monday, Feb. 4: Read first section from the algebra chapter. Hand in (to be scored): write an activity that you could use with children (any grade, PreK - 5 ) based on the algebra activities we did in class. Describe what the children would do and what you would expect them to learn from the activity.

Due Wednesday, Feb 6: Read the handout What's Above? copied from Navigating Through Algebra, Prekindergarten to Grade 2, by NCTM. Hand in (to be scored): Determine what day of the week will it be 100 days from today without looking at a calendar. Explain your reasoning. Then explain how the ideas you use to solve this problem are related to the ideas children will develop in doing the activities in What's Above.

Week 6:

Due Monday, Feb 11:Study for the test on Wednesday. See the Test 1 Problem Bank.

Wednesday, Feb 13: First test. Problems will be similar to some of those in the Test 1 Problem Bank.
