Mathematics courses for prospective elementary and
middle grades teachers at the University of Georgia
Math for elementary school teachers: for teachers who will be
certified to teach PreK through grade 5.
New
math content courses offered in the Department of Mathematics as of Fall 2010:
Early
childhood majors can fulfill the core math requirements with MATH 2001, 2002 and
are strongly encouraged to take these courses, even if they have fulfilled the
core and even if they have taken more advanced courses, such as calculus. Here’s why. Students need either MATH 2003 or MATH 5001 to
enter the program leading to grades PreK – 5 certification.
Prior to Fall 2010, all students who earned a degree leading to certification
to teach grades PreK – 5 took the following at UGA:
