Title of talk: Analysis and geometry of CP^1structures
on surfaces
Abstract: The spaceof
marked CP^1 structures on a surface can be studied
through complex analysis(using the Schwarzian derivative and geometric
function theory) orhyperbolic geometry (using pleated surfaces
and grafting, followingThurston). We present several results comparing
these two perspectives, and relating the Schwarzian derivative of
a CP^1 structure to the geometryof the corresponding pleated surface.
These results include jointwork with Mike Wolf.
