To get to Athens, you should fly into
Atlanta's
Hartsfield International Airport (ATL). There are then 2 principal
options for getting to Athens:
- A shuttle operated by Groome Transportation (706-410-2363) provides the 90 minute trip to various hotels in
Athens including the Holiday Inn and the Georgia Center near the math department. You should contact them directly to
make
a reservation. At this writing, the price is $34 one-way and $63 round-trip.
- For two or more people travelling together, you might consider renting a car from Atlanta airport. The best route depends on
Atlanta's unpredictable traffic. During rush hour, take I-285 east to
I-20 east, then GA-138 and US-78. Late at night, or in the middle of
the day, you can take I-85 north through downtown Atlanta, then GA-316.
You can find people with whom to share a car rental on the conference
wiki.
There are a couple of other ways to get to Athens.
Sometimes
you'll find cheaper rates if you fly into Greenville-Spartanburg
Airport (GSP). It is a 2 hour, low traffic drive
to or from Athens. You will need to rent a car if you land there.
Here is the suggested driving route from ATL.
