Triangulations of the sphere and degenerations of K3 surfaces
Abstract:
A result of W. Thurston says that the triangulations of S^2 are
parameterized by elements of positive norm in a certain lattice over
Eisenstein integers. I will discuss this result from the perspective
of
degenerations of K3 surfaces.
